En una hoja escriba toda la palabra, después vuelva a escribir la palabra pero omita una de las letras, su hijo/a tendrá que escribir la letra faltante y así hágalo con todas las palabras.

Writing Time

By celebrating your child’s accomplishment, it gives them the understanding of a writer’s purpose for a narrative story. Readers are entertained by the story over and over each time they read it. You could set up a “show and tell” in your house or invite friends and family to listen to your child read their story over the phone. Job well done!

Please make sure not to use numbers above 10 and always tell a story with the objects and drawings with the emphasis on separation of a part from the whole amount.

Please do the following hands on activities:

-Show how to separate numbers to represent subtraction using objects and this sentence frame.:

Subtraction: ___ - ___ = ___

-Solve a story problem told by separating numbers using objects and drawing pictures.. For example: “Adelynn has 10 cupcakes. She gave 3 to her little brother. How many cupcakes does Adelynn have now after she gave some to her brother? Ask: How do you know where the 3 cupcakes went? What happened all of the cupcakes Adelynn had? Does she still have 10? Why? The students will draw 10 circles on a page and cross out the 3 that are separated to show understanding and write the amount that are left. The emphasis this week is on the separation of the part from the whole and that the whole gets smaller when you remove some. The ten frame or the part/part/whole chart should also be used. *(Graded item) Please send pictures of your work to your teacher.

Winslow Homer (1836-1910) was an American landscape painter and best known for his marine subjects. He is considered one of the best 19th century American painters. He was a self taught artist who took up oil painting and watercolor. As a boy he was always outside and grew a lifelong love of his country. Homer painted many oil paintings and watercolors which captured the beauty of the wilderness. You will learn how to draw a ship.

Music

A Scale is a set of music notes arranged by their frequencies. There are many scales, and scale types. Major scales tend to sound happy or upbeat. Minor scales tend to sound darker or more melancholy. Major and Minor are the two most popular scales used in the music you like to listen to, but there are many more. We are going to practice singing a C Major scale today. The C Major scale is made up of the notes CDEFGABC. When we sing this scale we are going to use the Kodaly Hand Signs. These hand signs help us internalize the pitch of the scale, and sing more accurate. They also help us with our intervals, and make it easier to harmonize with the song, and others, making us better singers. Our sheet music song is Lucy Locket. This is an easy folk song with only three notes. We sing Fa, Sol, and Re pitches throughout the whole song. Try to do the hand signs as you sing, to keep your voice in the right pitch.

Our Warmup video is an exercise that is challenging, but also very fun. Try your best to do the hand signs as you sing through the warmup, don’t get discouraged when it gets harder. Just keep practicing, and I know you can do it.

Dibujando un velero Hola niñas

Winslow Homer (1836-1910) fue un pintor paisajista estadounidense y mejor conocido por sus temas marinos. Es considerado uno de los mejores pintores estadounidenses del siglo XIX. Fue un artista autodidacta que se ocupó de la pintura al óleo y la acuarela. Cuando era niño siempre estuvo afuera y creció un amor de por vida por su país. Homero pintó muchas pinturas al óleo y acuarelas que capturaron la belleza del desierto. Aprenderás a dibujar un barco.

Musica

Una escala es un conjunto de notas musicales ordenadas por sus frecuencias. Hay muchas escalas y tipos de escalas. Las escalas Major tienden a sonar felices o optimistas. Las escalas Minor tienden a sonar más oscuras o más melancólicas. Major y Minor son las dos escalas más populares utilizadas en la música que te gusta escuchar, pero hay muchas más. Hoy vamos a practicar cantar en escala do major. La escala C Major está compuesta por las notas CDEFGABC. Cuando cantamos esta escala vamos a utilizar Kodaly Hand Signs. Estas señales con las manos nos ayudan a internalizar el tono de la escala y a cantar con mayor precisión. También nos ayudan con nuestros intervalos y hacen que sea más fácil armonizar con la canción y otros, haciéndonos mejores cantantes. Nuestra partitura es Lucy Locket. Esta es una canción popular fácil con solo tres notas. Cantamos tonos Fa, Sol y Re a lo largo de toda la canción. Intente hacer las señales con las manos mientras canta, para mantener su voz en el tono correcto. Nuestro Warmup video es un ejercicio desafiante, pero también muy divertido. Haz tu mejor esfuerzo para hacer los signos de las manos mientras cantas a través del calentamiento, no te desanimes cuando sea más difícil. Sigue practicando y sé que puedes hacerlo.
