Apply for a passport immediately if your child doesn’t have one
According to the U.S. Department of State, processing times
(as of September 23, 2025) are as follows:
Routine 4 - 6 weeks
Expedited 2-3 weeks (+ $60 fee)
Passport fees (as of September 23, 2025) are as follows:
Adult (16+) $130 USD + $35 USD = $165 USD
Child (under 16) $100 USD + $35 USD = $135 USD

Fees
Children under 16 must present all the required documents of a first-time applicant. The child and both parents listed on the birth certificate must be present at the time of service. If both parents cannot be present, you will need to show more documents.
