• Cheetah re-introduction Plan

After losing the species to human warfare and hunting for over seven decades, India is preparing to reintroduce cheetahs into its jungles in an ambitious and challenging scheme. As part of an international translocation effort, eight cheetahs were airlifted to Kuno-Palpur National Park (KPNP) in the Sheopur district of Rajasthan from Namibia in Africa on September 17 in a cargo plane. The cheetah is the only large carnivore entirely eradicated from India due to habitat loss, overhunting, sport hunting, and cheetah coursing.

• Legal Age for Marriage

The legal age for marriage for women has been increased from 18 to 21 years. By making this change, the legal age for women would match that of men, i.e., 21. The previous difference implied gender inequality and the stereotypical attitude of people, which violates the fundamental rights guaranteed under Articles 14, 15, and 21. Supreme Court has admitted the pleas challenging different ages under Section 4(c) of the Special Marriage act, 1954, Section 3(1)(c) of the Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act, 1936, Section 2(a) of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, Section 5(iii) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 Section 60(1) of the Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872, which propose the age of groom and bride as 21 and 18 respectively.

• INS Vikrant

India experienced a historic day on September 2, 2022. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Vikrant, the country's first aircraft carrier built domestically, was commissioned by the honourable Prime Minister. This success represents a significant turning point for the "Make In India" program. The Indian Navy now has two aircraft carriers in its fleet, the other being INS Vikramaditya, with the introduction of INS Vikrant.

• 5G launched in India

India has joined the exclusive group of nations that have introduced 5G services. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have started offering 5G services in several Indian cities. The anticipated benefits of 5G technology include up to three times higher spectrum efficiency and download speeds that are ten times faster than those of 4G

• Russia-Ukraine war

The Russo-Ukrainian War, which started in 2014, significantly escalated on February 24, 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine. With 7.6 million Ukrainians leaving the country and a third of the population being displaced, the invasion likely resulted in tens of thousands of casualties on both sides and the greatest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II. Russia saw its highest departure rate since the October Revolution of 1917 within five weeks of the invasion. The invasion has also brought on food shortages.

• Inauguration of Kartavyapath

The Central Avenue from Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate and the Central Vista lawns has been renamed on September 7, 2022, in accordance with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the civic body in charge of the New Delhi region. The new name, Kartavya Path, conforms with Prime Minister Modi's attempt to eliminate names and symbols indicative of colonialism's latter days and the British Empire.

• Agneepath Scheme

The Government of India launched the Agnipath Scheme on June 14, 2022, as a tour-of-duty-style program for the recruitment of soldiers into the three military services below the rank of commissioned officers. All candidates will only be employed for a total of four years. This method will create a new military rank called "Agniveers" for those that are hired. The introduction of the plan has drawn criticism for lacking public discussion and consultation. The program is expected to go into effect in September 2022.

•  International disputes

• China Taiwan -Since 1949, Taiwan has operated independently of China, yet Beijing still considers the island to be a part of its territory. Beijing has sworn to ultimately "unify" Taiwan with the mainland, if necessary, through the use of force.

  Concerns are developing. The independence-supporting party platform of Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has criticized Beijing's efforts to erode democracy. Taipei is under increased political and military pressure from Beijing.

Some observers worry that a conflict between the US and China over Taiwan may result. When Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House, visited the island in 2022, conflicts between the two nations grew.

•  Srilanka – Srilanka is in the worst crisis since its independence due to tax cuts and money creation, external debt, agricultural crisis, corruption and impunity, and tourism which had a significant impact as there was a shortage of electricity and fuel, rise in inflation and other sectors were also affected like education, health, tourism etc. Protests have been going on since the President of Sri Lanka flew away.
•  Pakistan - As the government declared an emergency to address monsoon flooding that it said had impacted more than 30 million people, heavy rain has hammered a significant portion of Pakistan.
