1. Passover

Preparation

  • Anyone who lives within 15 miles should ascend to Temple carrying sacrifices (burnt & peace) and sings psalms
    • Ex. Jesus Christ
  • Starts one month before the feast
  • The priests send messengers to the farmers to bring and prepare sacrifices
  • They should fix bridges and passes before the feast to make it more accessible to everyone attend the feast
  • They should paint the tombs in white, so no one touches them& become defiled
    • Remember Jesus Christ talks to Pharisees

Preparation

  • Remove the yeast from home
    • “Therefore; purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7)

1. Passover/Pascha/Cross Over

  • Held on 14th day of first month of the religious calendar = March/April

  • Performed at the Temple = pour the blood on the bronze/burnt altar and NOT at home
  • Should be slaughtered between the early sunset and dark while singing Palms 113 – 118

  • No broken bones
  • One lamb for 10-20 persons
  • No rush while eating

2. Unleavened Bread

  • Starts on 15th day of first month – the day after Passover and lasts for 7 days (15 - 21)
  • No yeast = no evil in your life
  • Lasts for 7 days, symbol of whole life
  • “Put away from yourselves the evil person” (1 Corinthians 5:13)

  • Daily offerings
  • Burnt (one Bull, 7 Lambs) + Grain Offering
  • Trespass offering (one goat) and lambs as peace offerings

3. Feast of The First Fruits

  • On the 16th of Nisan = 2 days after The Passover
  • “When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest” (Leviticus 23:10)

  1. Offered on Sunday
  2. Offered with burnt offering One year old lamb + grain offering
  3. No sin or trespass sacrifices

  • It was a symbol of resurrected Jesus Christ without sin

  • But now Christ is risen from the dead and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. ( 1 Corinthian 15:20)

  • Used to declare war, holidays, new year, jubilee year, etc.

  • Symbol of the final trumpet in the last days of the world and Jesus’ Second Coming

6. Atonement / Yom Kippur (September – October)

  • Most important feast in the year!
  • Celebrated on the 10th day of the 7th month
  • Everyone attends the feast and fasts from the previous evening until the next evening
  • The High Priest enters The Holy of Holies once a year to offer sacrifices on behalf of himself first then on behalf of his people
  • Symbol of Good Friday

  • Correlates with repentance and redemption events in Old Testament

  1. The day Adam sinned
  2. The day of Abraham’s circumcision / covenant with God

6. Atonement / Yom Kippur (September – October) Cont.

  • The high priest leaves his house for seven days and lives at the temple to cleanse himself
  • He checks all sacrifices by himself on the previous night then offers all sacrifices by himself
  • The Sanhedrim send messengers to check on him
  • He washes his body 5 times then puts on white cotton tunic as symbol of Jesus incarnation
  • He presents the bull before the people and lays his hands on him and confess his sins, then slays the bull and enters the Holy of Holies three times as follows

  • He presents two goats and chooses one to be scapegoat and ties it with purple rope while offering the other as a sin sacrifice

  • The High Priest goes into the Holy of Holies 3 times:

  1. To offer incense before the throne
  2. To sprinkle the blood of the bull at the incense altar
  3. To sprinkle the blood of the goat at the incense altar

“and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross” (Colossians 1:20)

  • He is separated from the world for 7 days
  • He puts on white linen tunic (Incarnation)
  • He enters the Holy of Holies once a year
  • He must enter the Holy of Holies three times to complete the service

7. Tabernacles / Sukkot (Leviticus 23)

  • Celebrated on 15th day of the 7th month
  • They leave home and live-in tabernacles, on rooftops or outside their homes for 7 days

  • The 8th day is a great celebration, where Jesus cried whoever is thirsty let him come to me
  • Everyday, people carry palm leaves and go to the temple where the priests walks 7 times around the altar as a symbol of entering Jericho

  • Everyday, the priests goes to the pool of Siloam and carries water in a pot and pours it around the altar as a symbol of Mosses striking the rock to get the water of life

  • Siloam means (Sender / Jesus)
  • Jesus Christ ordered the blind to wash himself in this lake to regain his sight
  • This feast is a symbol of a presence in his eternal Kingdom
