Configuration Overview

  • The AAMC Library uses a product called TinyCat (Tiny Catalog) which is a library catalog software-as-a-service product for small organizations.
  • We operate under the “Volunteer” Library license which allows us up to 500 items for $3 per month.
  • TinyCat in turns leverages LibraryThing to store the catalog of books. LibraryThing is a free product for creating a database of your library.
  • TinyCat adds a front end to LibraryThing and facilitates creating patron accounts, the check-in/check-out workflows, and other customizations.

  • Once a year an audit will be performed to reconcile the electronic status of books with the actual library. It is your responsibility to arrange this audit to be conducted by the board Secretary.

IMPORTANT

It is critical that all transactions are recorded when they occur for your protection and for member's protection.

  • Do not hand over books that have not been electronically checked out before they are handed over. This includes not handing over a book thinking you will check it out later when you get back home.
