Dyslexia Games are a series of consumable therapy workbooks available for parents download at home through the Learning Commons. It is recommended that these books be printed on 24lb paper and coloured printer ink is not needed.

The Barton Reading & Spelling System is a Structured Literacy program that is Orton-Gillingham influenced. It is a multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential intense intervention program.

• Available in the HCOS Learning Commons
• Ten levels
• 5-6 hours training for the parent/tutor for each level before lessons start
• Each level takes about 3-4 months to complete
• Tiles can be accessed through an app

Touch Type Read and Spell is an award-winning, multi-sensory course that teaches touch-typing, reading and spelling at the same time. It is an excellent resource for students challenged by dyslexia. Purchased individually, the cost can be up to $200/ea. However, this subscription is available as a Universal Support, at no cost to enrolled HCOS families.

Read&Write is an extension to Google Chrome that allows students to use many different tools such as:

Hello Anxiety - grades 8-12

Hello Anxiety is an online Learning Camp where teens engage in group counselling to address the oh-so-common experience of anxiety.

• Explore the nervous system

The group will be led by a registered counsellor, Julie. She will help the group understand how their brains are wired, and will introduce participants to tools and strategies that increase balanced, secure and calm feelings. Additionally, she will help build both social connection and each participant’s confidence in their own unique identity and abilities. Julie draws on 25 years of experience leading groups of teens and understands both how to have fun and build healthy group dynamics, while accomplishing outcomes.
