• 5^th grade teachers make placement recommendations
• Recommendations are based on:
• students’ work habits
• current class performance
• SOL scores and other assessment data
• Direct questions to recommending teacher
• Recommendations are reviewed at the end of the year

Registration Timeline

• February 23-27
• The middle school counselors go to PES and meet with 5^th grade classes
• March 2
• All changes must be submitted in writing to the PES counselor
• March 9-13
• 5th grade tours the middle school
• June 2026
• Teachers finalize course recommendations
• August 2026
• Students pick up schedules and meet teachers
