Capacity Building Resource and Training Gateway

Problem

All over the world, different space agencies collect data related to earth observation in order to react efficiently to the challenges of natural disasters and other environmental problems. But accessing and understanding this data is a rigorous task due to the difficulty in finding easily the platforms dedicated to these available trainings, courses, webinars, as all this information is scattered on the web.

The following points were noted:

• Difficulty in finding a training platform
• Difficulty in finding institutes and universities that provide this type of training
• Difficulty in finding information related to Earth observation.
• Difficulty of people to provide information on available training and/or universities and institutes that provide such training

Solution

As a result of this issue, we have developed a web-based capacity building resource application that will help professionals of all levels and disciplines find the training they need to apply EO, but also allow anyone to access information on universities, training-related structures

Uniqueness of the solution

The web application is a user-friendly portal that serves as a central gateway to help users find the right training for their needs. Learners and trainers can now connect to resources from different capacity building groups. The application also allows individual trainers to deliver their training in OE and other capacity building programs. They will be able to refer their students to a particular training opportunity, include the web application in their OE program, or use it to identify potential training gaps or avoid duplication of effort.
