Option A Agreement

Option A:

  • Student/family is indicating that they plan to self pay for the college courses, fees and all materials.

  • The cost per credit hour will be the standard rate as determined by the college

  • Students can select if they want to earn high school AND college credit or just college credit.

9 of 46

Option B Agreement

Option B:

  • Student/family is indicating that they plan to use state funds to pay for tuition, fees, and textbooks

  • Students will earn both high school and college credit

  • This option is the “default option” for College Credit Plus

10 of 46

Option B: Expenses

Public Institutions:

  • Tuition, required fees and textbooks covered by school district
  • Optional expenses are the responsibility of the student (i.e. parking pass)

Private Institutions:

  • Tuition, required fees and textbooks covered by school district
  • Optional expenses are the responsibility of the student
  • Students may be charged a small cost per credit hour at the discretion of the college

11 of 46

Option B: GPA and Credits

CCP courses will be transcribed on both a college transcript and a high school transcript.

CCP courses will be accounted for in both the student’s high school and college grade point average.

  • High school grade will be weighted if high school offers course with weighted grade in that subject area; college grade will NOT be weighted

Additional Course Considerations

What high school graduation requirements are still needed?

Do these courses align with my career/college major aspirations after high school?

15 of 46

Athletic Consideration

Students are responsible for requesting progress report updates at the end of the marking period to determine eligibility.

Students must ensure that they are full-time students enrolled in equivalent to 2.5 high school credits per semester.

(minimum of 7.5 college credits per semester if only enrolled in CCP courses)

Summer term CCP grades can not be used for athletic eligibility

Impact of Underperformance in CCP Program

If a student fails or withdraws from a course after the designated drop date:

  • Akron Public Schools will require students and their families to reimburse the district for both the cost of tuition and textbooks if previously selected option B.
    • Please note, if a student is considered “economically disadvantaged,” a school district may not seek reimbursement
  • Future financial aid may be negatively impacted

17 of 46

Impact of Underperformance in CCP Program

If a student fails or withdraws from a course after the designated drop date:

  • The grades through CCP participation will be on a student’s high school and college transcript permanently.
  • Could also result in credit deficiency for high school graduation.

18 of 46

CCP Probation

A student will be placed on CCP probation if they earn less than a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in CCP courses or withdraw from 2 or more courses in one academic term.

While on probation, students may only enroll in one CCP course per term

  • This course can not be in the same subject area in which the student earned a grade of D, F, NC (or equivalent grade)

19 of 46

CCP Dismissal

If a student does not raise their cumulative CCP grade point average above a 2.0 while on probation, they will be placed on CCP dismissal.

While on CCP dismissal, students may not enroll in any CCP courses.

20 of 46

Appeals: CCP Probation and Dismissal

Students must notify the College Access Program Manager and their school counselor that they would like to request an appeal.

  • Probation appeals: student is requesting that they be permitted to take a course in which they previously earned a grade of D, F, or no credit

  • Dismissal appeal: student is requesting that they be reinstated to the CCP program after one term of dismissal
