DRESS CODE

BASICS

Dress Code: Tops and Outerwear

REGULAR DRESS

Shirt Guidelines:

  • A solid colored polo shirt (SHC polos from East Bay, SHC Prep Shop, through SHC clubs/teams are encouraged)
  • A solid colored button-down dress shirt.
  • Shirts may not be altered in any way (hemmed, rubber banded in the back, etc.) and must be kept clean and neat at all times.
  • Shirts must be long enough to cover the midriff, even when arms are raised above a student’s head. Shirts must be buttoned to cover the torso up to the collar bone.

Outerwear (Jacket, Sweater, Sweatshirt)

  • All outerwear is considered part of the SHC Dress Code.
  • The only sweaters, sweatshirts, and jackets to be worn during the school day must be SHC outerwear purchased at the Irish Prep Shop (online or on-campus), or as part of authorized spirit wear representing an official SHC co- curricular program.

Dress Code Pants

Pants:

  • Pants must be full length, neat and properly fitted.
  • Pants, slacks and corduroys that are solid colored may be worn in lieu of the school skirt; blue jeans are not acceptable nor are any “distressed” fabric, materials, or styles.

NOT acceptable:

  • Pants with holes and pants that are cut or frayed at the bottom or waistline.
  • Overalls, fatigues, camouflage, or excessively tight or baggy pants.
  • Blue jeans, leggings, athletic wear, warm-ups, sweats or sweat-type pants.

Shorts and Skirts

School Skirt

  • The length must not be shorter than 3 inches above the knee.
  • Solid weave nylons or tights may be worn with a school skirt that meets length requirements.
  • The dress code skirt in navy blue or khaki must be purchased at the school’s uniform company, Dennis Uniform Company. Skirts other than the school skirt are not allowed.

Shorts

  • Shorts should be walking length (not shorter than two inches from the middle of the knee), neat and properly fitted.
  • Shorts must be solid colored.

Hair & Dress Up Day

Hair:

  • A student’s hair should be clean and neatly combed and/or styled.
  • Students must maintain natural hair color, and are not allowed to color or braid extreme colors (bright red, burgundy, orange, purple, etc.) into their hair.
  • Any highlights must appear appropriate to a student’s natural hair color.

Dress Up Day Attire:

  • Black or khaki pants, blue or white button up
  • Designated green full zip or ¼ zip jacket

Daily Schedule Basics

Classes Begin

  • Green, Blue days at 9:30 am
    • If enrolled in Block 7 or 8, school starts at 8 am (Blue=7; Green=8)
  • Founders Day 9 am

Classes Ends

  • All school days end at 2:30 pm
