A Brief History

  • 1997: Six interrelated domains built as narratives with “Key Elements” and guiding questions. Accompanied by the Continuum of Teaching Practice.
    • Provides a framework for individual goal setting tailored to students & context
    • Guides teacher development and evaluation statewide
  • 2009: Same 6 domains with 5-7 bulleted elements
    • Updated to address needs of a diverse student body
    • Added focus on social development & differentiated instruction
  • 2024: Same 6 domains with 4-7 focused elements and indicators
    • Attending to the social, emotional, physical cognitive &

academic needs of students

    • Ensuring inclusive learning experiences & equitable outcomes for all students
