Keeping Track of Our Model
Driving Question: Why do some people who are related look similar and some do not?
- Sexually reproducing organisms have two genes that determine each trait
- A parent passes only one of his/her two genes for a trait to each offspring.
- Random chance determines which of the two genes is passed to each offspring
- Crossing over increases genetic diversity due to the exchange of genes between homologous chromosomes during the first part of meiosis.
