Accommodations

Scaffolds

Modifications

Change how material is taught or assessed compared to the class.

Content outcomes and expectations are the same.

Grading is the same.

Examples include:

visuals, word banks,

dictionary usage (English and/or Bilingual), fewer answer choices, sentence stems, etc.

Change how the material is presented to support students learning a new skill, language, or concept.

Gradual release of responsibility

Can include the following:

  • Modeling
  • Building Prior Knowledge
  • Opportunities for talk and discussion
  • Explicit vocabulary instruction
  • Graphic organizers
  • Technology

Change what material is taught (below grade level).

Content outcomes and expectations are different.

Grading is (usually) different.

Examples include:

using EL Newcomer curriculum, adjusted curriculum, alternative assessments or assignments (which are noted in the gradebook).

Among the many options in this portion, you will find features that allow you and the students to be able to listen to selected of texts in a variety of modes.

Schoology allows for lockdown browser, and individual assignments

Microsoft Immersive Reader has similar features to Schoology

Read & Write Chrome is on all LCPS Chromebooks and can be accessed at home. Gives access via Google Docs

Google Chrome Live Caption allows for speech for texts and videos.

Orbit note (similar to R&W) allows access to PDFs )

Performance Matters is an assessment software e with built-in read aloud technology

Schoology allows for lockdown browser, and individual assignments for students to translate a given text. The drop down menu includes approximately 6 languages. (NB use R&W for G docs)

Microsoft Immersive Reader has similar features to Schoology

Read & Write Chrome is on all LCPS Chromebooks and can be accessed at home. Gives access via Google Docs. The drop down menu includes large selection of approximately languages.

ADAPTATIONS

Rewordify allows the teacher to determine the degree to which the parts of a text are adapted

Newsela allow the teacher to offer a variety of lexiles within a diverse group while still maintaining the integrity and keys points of the given topic with in the text.

Text Compactor shortens and adapts the wording in the text.

Diffit (under review by LCPS) allows for AI generated / differentiated resources
