CONVERSION OF ASSERTIVE SENTENCE IN INDIRECT SPEECH
1. She said “My father is in Mumbai”.

CONVERSION OF INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES IN INDIRECT SPEECH
There are two types of question: ‘Wh’question and ‘YES or NO’ question
1.He said to me “What are you doing?”
He asked me what I was doing.
2.She said to me “What is your name?”
She asked me what my name was.
3.David said to me “Do you like coffee?”
David asked me if I liked coffee.
4.They told me “Have you gone to London?’
They asked me if I had gone to London
CONVERSION OF IMPERATIVE SENTENCES IN INDIRECT SPEECH .
1.She said to me “Please help me”
She requested me to help her.
2.The teacher said to him “Do not waste your time”.

The tense of reported speech does not change in following cases:
Conjunction ‘That’ is not used in the conversion of following cases

CONVERSION OF EXCLAMATORY SENTENCES IN INDIRECT SPEECH .
1.They said “Hurrah ! We won the game”.
They exclaimed with joy that they had won
the game.
2.He said “Alas! I failed the test”.
He exclaimed with sorrow that he had failed
the test.
3.She said “What a beautiful flower!”
She exclaimed with wonder that the flower
was very beautiful.
