Themes and characters

• The theme of the story ‘The happy prince’ has to do with friendship because the prince and the bird stay by each other’s side till the end.
• The prince for example is thoughtful of the bird since he really cares about the bird’s health and asks him to leave him when the weather gets colder.
• The bird is loyal because even though it is dangerous for him to stay in such a cold place he never leaves the prince alone.
• As for the other people included in the story, they ‘judge a book by its cover’ since they threw the statue of the prince to the bin when he wasn’t gold anymore and they are also selfish because they only care about themselves.

Friendship in our generation

Nowadays friendship isn’t as important as it used to be because of the fact that people are selfish and they only care about their image and their own happiness. A good example is social media that creates fake relations behind the screen because people want to be famous, to be acceptable and like they are better than anyone else. That will ruin the friendship in the future.

The theme of the story is the friendship between a swallow and a statue of Happy prince.

the friendship between the swallow and the statue is true because all two are there in the moment of need.

OUR OPINION

In our opinion the story has various meanings and various themes but the most important theme is the friendship on which most of the story is based.

Films

A film that I recommend and that has friendship as its main theme is "Almost friends" (Quasi amici). it is about a boy who is forced to work who establishes a friendship with his boss.

Books

A book that I recommend and that speaks of friendship is "Two equal snowflakes" ( Due fiocchi di neve uguali). is a different friendship than that of the happy prince and the swallow, it is much more complicated but it is a really beautiful story

The swallow and happy prince’s friendship

The friendship between the two characters is unlikely because they both have obligations and nothing in common. That makes this story more touching. Indeed, despite their differences they stay together even if they could be in danger. And their friendship will last until they die.

A book about friendship : “of mice and men”

In this book too, there is an odd friendship. The characters are really differents like in « The Happy Prince » but, despite it, are friends and inseparable. Through the bad events they continue to take up challenges together and fight against hazard of life.
