Wide Angle Lens

Full Frame / FX Format Sensor:

If you have a full frame camera, our required focal length range is:

Lens Focal length at 14-40mm*

Do not shoot wider than 14mm

6

Crop / APS-C Sensor:

If you have a crop sensor camera, our required focal length range is:

Lens Focal length at 10-30mm*

Tripod

Some considerations when selecting a tripod:

  • Height: Reaches up to 5-6 feet
  • Sturdy: Make sure it won't blow over in the wind
  • Light Weight: Can you carry it all day long? Carbon fiber is a great choice.
  • Bubble Level: A helpful tool for a tripod

Having a good tripod is vital! We shoot on a tripod for every single image.

You will need to be able to tuck it into corners and behind furniture!

Ball Head

Here a few good options!

Benro PU70

3 LeggedThing Airhed

Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ2

9

Some considerations when selecting a ball head:

  • Weight: Needs to be able to withstand weight of camera
  • 360 notations: Look for 360 notations on the ball head
  • Bubble Level: A helpful tool for panos
  • Quick Release Plate: Makes taking gear in and out of your car easier

For speed and efficiency onsite a ball head is the best option for your tripod head. Being able to compose quickly and align your vertical lines is easiest with a ball head.

Laptop Requirements for Virtuance Products

11

  • Must use a laptop NOT a desktop computer.
  • Mac or PC laptops are acceptable so long as they meet the following criteria:
    • Must have at least 8GB Memory/Ram.
    • Must also have at least 512 GB of available hard disk storage space.
    • Must have an Intel or AMD processor to support Tagger. Note: ARM processors may not support Tagger, we strongly advise against using a laptop with an ARM processor (Ex: Windows Surface Laptops.
  • Tablets are not compatible with Tagger.

Virtuance products such as Residential Ground photography, Aerial Photo & Video and our Walkthrough Video product all require the use of our proprietary software called Tagger to import & upload photos & videos for delivery. It’s required that all partners have a laptop that meets our specifications so they can import & tag photo while onsite. It is your responsibility to know what your computer specs are to ensure they meet our requirements.

Macro Rail Slider

12

Some considerations when selecting a a macro/nodal rail slider::

  • Weight: Needs to be able to withstand weight of camera
  • Quick Release Plate: Makes setting up and breaking down gear quicker
  • Compatibility: Ensure that it will be compatible with your ball/gear head and tripod set up.

For speed and efficiency onsite a ball head is the best option for your tripod head. Being able to compose quickly and align your vertical lines is easiest with a ball head.

IMPORTANT! A slider is a required piece of gear IF your lens is not capable of photographing as wide as 14mm on a full frame lens and as wide as 10mm on a crop sensor lens, you are required to purchase a Macro Rail slider.

We recommend the Fotomate Macro Rail Slider

  • Minimum of 6 EV between exposures
  • Maximum of 2 EV’s between exposures
  • Ideal Bracketing is 5 exposures, 2EV’s apart (Inspire 1 and Inspire 2 are capable)
  • Minimum bracketing requirement is 5 exposures at 0.7 EV

*Remote ID Compliant Drones - As of September 16th 2023, the FAA is requiring all pilots whose drone is Remote ID compliant already to comply with the new Remote ID rule. If your drone is not yet Remote ID compliant, according to the FAA you have until March 16, 2024 to ensure compliance. All pilots partnering with Virtuance MUST verify they are using a Remote ID compliant drone (either built-in or using a Remote ID module). More information can be found on the FAA’s website here:https://uasdoc.faa.gov/listDocs

Testing Your Equipment

Virtuance is striving to continually add new gear to our qualified equipment list so that photographers and aerial pilots can work with a variety of gear. To test, you need to configure your equipment to the required settings, capture a set of images, and upload. Review the next few slides to see those instructions.

Do you have a camera, lens or drone that is not yet listed as qualified equipment? You can test your current equipment for compatibility with our systems if your camera, lens, or drone isn't currently on our qualified equipment list (pg. 4-6) AND hasn’t been previously tested by us (pg. 17). Please confirm your equipment is not on the list!

Would you like to have your equipment tested? Check to make sure your equipment can be configured it the required settings, specifically the bracketing settings. If it can, click HERE to fill out a request form and begin the qualification process. Thank you for assisting us to test the gear!

FAQ

27

28 of 33

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Does my camera need to be full frame or crop?

A: Either is fine, just be sure the focal length of the lenses are correct. Please go to the lens page for details.

Q: How did you select the cameras on your list?

A: The bracketing requirements are one of the most important features. Cameras that can bracket 5 shots with 2 Ev gaps are preferred however we would be open to testing cameras that are also capable of 1 EV gap as long as they can produce 7 bracketed shots as well.

28

29 of 33

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: May I use a filter?

A: No, this causes unnecessary adjustments for our processing team.

Q: May I use an adaptor?

A: While we don't prefer it, we allow the use Metabones adaptors only. Occasionally Metabones adaptors can cause issues with processing. It is incredibly important to note that if there were to become a trend of your adaptor causing issues, you would be expected to switch to a lens/camera combo that didn't require an adaptor immediately.

Q: I still have additional questions before I purchase gear. Who can I contact?

A: Please contact us at photojobs@virtuance.com We are happy to help!
