Then click view or print Student Aid Report (SAR).

DOWNLOAD & SAVE YOUR SAR. Mark on your checklist that you have completed this task.

Now, you can do a SAR Review. We are looking for 4 key pieces of information.

  1. Your EFC (estimated family contribution)
  2. If you’ve been selected for verification (additional forms will be need)
  3. If you have any errors
  4. Which colleges have received your FAFSA

On your checklist, write down your EFC and if there is a “*” next to the number.

Then read through the FAFSA Data section of your Student Aid Report. Look for any errors.

Checking for Errors

Some of the most common errors are as follows:

  • Selective Service Registration (Line 22). All males over 18 must register for Selective Service. If this is not complete, the student must log back into the FAFSA and make this correction.
  • FAFSA Submitted Without Parent Signature. All dependent students must have a student and parent signature. If this is not complete, log back in and add the signature.
  • Typos on Key Info. Be sure to double check that name spelling, addresses, birthdates, and all financial information is correct.

Schools

Scroll down to the bottom section of the SAR.

You should see a section with the colleges listed that have received your FAFSA.

Write down the schools listed currently on your checklist.

Adding Schools

Login to Overgrad to view your list of Applications. Leave this window open.

Look at your SAR - do you have all the schools you’ve applied to on your FAFSA?

If yes, fill out the rest of your checklist. Then, update the status of all your applications on Overgrad.

If not…...follow our directions.

The save key is just a temporary password in case you need to edit your FAFSA before you click submit.

Search for schools - just select the state and type part of the school name.
