DONATION REQUEST
In our effort to continue the high level of music excellence offered at Newhart M.S., we are suggesting a fair-share, voluntary Band/Orchestra program donation of $80 per student for this school year. The donation has been slightly raised from last year in order to cover higher transportation costs.
We rely SOLELY on your "Fair Share Contributions" to operate your STELLAR music program. Your student gains so much as a member of the Newhart’s successful and award-winning music program and we need funds to providing coaching, music, transportation, the cost of field trips, sheet music, coaching, music folders, case tags, school instruments, supplies and music t-shirt. The district pays for the teacher’s salary and only $500 for the entire year. Last year, the district used some Covid recovery funds to help us purchase a few instruments and 6th grade music books. More than likely, this will not be the case this year. We also welcome anyone who would like to make payments or donate extra to cover other students in need.
Donations are voluntary and all students will be allowed to participate regardless of whether a donation is made or not.

SCHOOL INSTRUMENTS
We have a limited amount of school instruments available to borrow for the school year. However, we have never denied a student the opportunity to borrow a school instrument in the past. If you are unsure what you are going to play, we will demonstrate the various instruments in the first weeks of school. As you know, instruments are rather expensive as well as the cost to maintain them in working condition. Of course, you can secure an instrument on your own if you prefer.
Due to rising costs of repair and maintenance and increased numbers of students, a voluntary donation is suggested for the use of a school instrument for the entire school year. Donations are voluntary and all students will be allowed to participate whether a donation is made or not. Later in the packet, I have provided a list of average repair costs for instruments. Please understand that these are average costs and may differ depending on the repair shop.
Our instruments must be returned and checked in at the end of the year in the same condition as received. Students & their parent/guardian will be required to sign the CUSD “Instrument Usage Form” before receiving a school instrument. Students who fail to return an instrument or who return an instrument which is damaged beyond ordinary wear and tear will be required to reimburse the School/District for the full replacement cost.
If you choose to use a school instrument through Newhart, the suggested donations are as follows:

LIABILITY WAIVER
