Locked Chromebook in Class?

Please let your teacher know!

There are currently 56 Chromebooks missing school-wide, and at least 10 have been accessed within the past month.

If you have a Chromebook that does not belong in your classroom, return it to the Learning Commons immediately — no questions asked. We just need the devices returned.

These devices must remain accounted for and available for student use.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Each summer, the Ottawa Humane Society offers a Youth Volunteer Program designed for youth ages 14 to 18 who are interested in animal welfare and enjoy working with children. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to assist our summer camp staff in facilitating camp programming for children while spending time in an engaging, animal-focused setting.

Youth volunteer placements are one week in length and will take place between June 29 and August 28, 2026. Volunteer hours completed through the program can contribute toward the 40 required community involvement hours for high school graduation. Proper documentation will be completed during onboarding to ensure accurate tracking of hours.

Applications for the 2026 program are now open.

Youth Volunteer Requirements:

  • Youth volunteers must be between 14 and 18 years of age
  • Volunteers should have some experience leading groups of children, preferably in a camp setting
  • Volunteers must be comfortable handling companion animals, including dogs, cats, and small animals

Due to the popularity of this program, we typically receive a high volume of applications each year. All applications are reviewed to ensure candidates meet the minimum requirements for the position. Applicants who move forward in the process will be invited to participate in a virtual interview with members of our Volunteer Department team.

Successful candidates will also be required to attend ONE mandatory onsite orientation session at the OHS before volunteering at camp. Orientation dates are:

  • Friday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Steps to Becoming a Youth Volunteer:

  1. Complete the youth volunteer application and youth/parent waiver located here: https://bttr.im/a789l
  2. Applicants whose skills and availability match program needs will be contacted for a phone screen and/or interview
  3. Successful candidates will attend a scheduled orientation session before beginning their placement
