Bungee Jumping Barbiee
Your Mission
Get Bungee Jumping Barbie as close to ground without hitting it!
Barbie will be Bungee Jumping in the foyer in front of the Main Office
The distance to the ground is 562 cm.
562 cm
Sorry Barbie!
Create a double loop to wrap around Barbie's feet. This is made by securing one rubberband to another with a slip knot
Wrap the open end of the double-loop tightly around Barbie's feet
Attach a second rubber band to the first one using a slip knot
With two rubber bands attached, hold the end of the rubber bands at the jump line and drop Barbie. Have a group member mark the lowest point of the jump on the paper on the wall.
Trials
Measure your jump in centimeters and record the data into the Excel Spreadsheet at the bottom of the page. Accuracy is important, Barbie's life depends on it!
You may wish to repeat the jump several times and take the average to ensure a more accurate measurement of the true lowest distance.
Repeatedly attach two additional rubber bands, measure the distance and record the results.
As you input the data it begins to make a scatterplot.
If we are dropping Barbie from a distance of 562 CM how many rubber bands will you use to get her as close to the floor without hitting it?
Use the scatter plot you created and create an equation to help you determine the amount of rubber bands needed.
DO NOT JUST GUESS! PROVE IT MATHEMATICALLY!!
Be sure to answer all of the questions on the bottom of your spreed sheet.
When complete hand in the excel spreadsheet on Edmodo.
