Background

Over the years, as practice and statistics have shown, many students and graduates cannot find work on a permanent basis and face many problems, as a result of which the unemployment rate is growing, although it is possible to correctly distribute labor resources

Problem

Because of this problem and the lack of places for students, we want to create an opportunity for all countries with minimal opportunities to gain experience and improve their skills so that after graduation there will be no technical problems with finding

Goals

  1. build an application that will give you the opportunity to participate in startups for free
  2. build new commercial relationships between employers and students
  3. reduce job search time

Target Market

The main categories of people that will be used will be people from 18 to 25 years old, given that in addition to the bachelor's degree, there is also a master's degree.

TAM

320 million people in the US

10.4% of the adult population is in college

6 million (18%) students eventually graduate from college.

$29.99 per month

TAM = (6 million graduates) x ($29.99 per month) x (12 months per year) x (5% growth rate) = $2.2 Billion (approx.)

  • Pricing

We will make a freemium model, since our entire income comes from partners and users on the site, we can try to make some kind of symbolic subscription for the entrance, for example, free job search within a certain distance, those who want to look for work around the world --29.99 $.

In fact, if we count by our partners, then taking into account the subscription and partners money, we will set a goal of 200 million dollars, and 5-7% of the market share in the first year. In fact, we are a linkedin application, and linkedin occupies 17% of the market, so we can make such conclusions.

Student Profile

Rationale

by and large, I chose a student profile, because around this sketch you can build the whole application and make it easier than linkedin. Secondly, the linkedin profile needs to be finalized, since the portfolio that is being formed is the most inconvenient for industries to other sources, but to make one application for students without extra links to github and so on

Prototype

Link your prototype

Description

  • High level overview of the prototype
  • What does it do?

This prototype shows all the concepts except for some pages that are in development to solve problems in the field of job search. In the prototype, you can do a lot of things: register, enter the application, add a dashboard with projects, portfolio and certificates - add, messenger, find companies that are close in location and communicate with industries

Assumptions

  • Any assumptions within the prototype

The prototype is not bad, but you need to choose a color scheme + make a couple more pages related to adding and generating a portfolio, and now only a dashboard, also A / B testing for colors and placement of things

Tasks

  • What are the tasks that a user can complete in the prototype?

In the prototype, you can do a lot of things: register, enter the application, add a dashboard with projects, portfolio and certificates - add, messenger, find companies that are close in location and communicate with industries

[LinkedIn Students] Research Plan

Target Users:

  • Split between students and casual graduates
  • Existing linkedin Users

Background questions:

  • Have you ever searched job online?
  • What was that experience like?
  • Are there specific jobs you wouldn’t consider find online?
  • How did you feel if your data was used to create a portfolio and distribute it to companies?

Introduction and overview of the study [Linkedin Students]

My name is Illia and I’m a Product Manager here at Linkedin Student . The team’s been working on some exciting new ideas about the student experience and we wanted to share them with you and get your feedback.

The way that this interview will run is… I have a few background questions to get to know you a little bit better and some of your experience searching job. Then, we’ll switch gears and I’ll show you a prototype that the team has been working on and ask you for your feedback.

Before we get started, please review this NDA and sign it. It’s important that the things we show you and the ideas that we discuss today stay confidential.

Do you have any questions before we get started?

No questions… Great! Is it ok if I record this session? The recording is only going to be used internally by the team to refer back to our conversation. It also helps make sure that we don’t miss anything in the notes.

31 of 42

General questions about the user's background (as related to the product)

  • Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
  • How long have you been living in this city?
  • Can you tell me a little bit about your living situation?
  • When was the last time you searching a job? How often do you do this activity?

32 of 42

More specific questions about the user's experiences searching job

  • Have you ever searched jobs online? Why or why not?
  • What types of jobs would you consider searching online? Why?
  • Do you have any concerns about searching jobs online? Why?

Tasks for the user to complete in the prototype

Now I’m going to show you a prototype that the team has been working on. Keep in mind that this isn’t a test… And there’s no right or wrong answer. We’re trying to understand how well this idea works for you. And because it’s a prototype, not everything you see in the app may work.

One more thing… As you start using the prototype, I’m going to ask you to think out loud. I’m interested in hearing what you are seeing on the screen, how you are interpreting it, and what you expect things to do.

Go ahead and take a look around. Can you describe what you see?

How would you go about finding jobs ? Can you show me?

Let’s say that you wanted to create a dashboard . How would you do that?

What are the different options for getting job ? Which one do you prefer? Why?

User's feedback about the prototype

Awesome! Thanks so much for going through all of that with us. Just a few more questions

Do you think this is something you would use? Why or why not?

Is there anything you think could be improved?

Is there any other feedback you want to share with the team?

Thank you message to the user for participating

Thanks so much for coming in! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts about what we’ve been working on.

User Testing: Participant 1 Key Findings

Link your audio recording

What worked well

The user said that everything is quite simple with our application, he immediately realized that parts of the portfolio are still being made and time is needed, so he understood all the basic features in the form of a profile, dashboard and messenger right away

Where participants got stuck

The only thing where the user almost didn’t understand how to change the color scheme, we are at the prototyping stage, we don’t have settings yet, so he got a little lost

Other observations

By and large, such fields as the full application, settings and the color scheme that is included in the settings were marked

35 of 42

Participant 1: Interview Notes

  • Develop colors themes
  • Making Portfolio section in the prototype
  • Making icon for the settings

36 of 42

User Testing: Participant 2 Key Findings

Link your audio recording

What worked well

Adding a new dashboard, job search, search by location, chat works well

Where participants got stuck

When we asked the user to find a company, he did not quite understand how the companies are located next to him by location and the search is displayed on the same page, which he called a too complex solution

Other observations

He, like the first user, called problems with the color palette, login from Google and Apple accounts

37 of 42

Participant 2: Interview Notes

  • Develop color themes
  • Making app less complexity and more user friendly
  • Create entry with third party application

Updated PRD

Background

Over the years, we’ve seen a big increase in the number of students who cannot find a job in their specialty, they are not hired and are not even given a chance to show their skills.

Problem

The problem of graduate unemployment is really growing, and at the moment, 5% of graduates, among students who would like to try themselves in a startup before graduation or an intern much more, reaches 40% + percent. Therefore, the main initiative of our application will be to create an opportunity to get everything students need

Goals

  1. Create an app for all students and graduates
  2. enter into as many new partnerships as possible for which young specialists or interns will be needed
  3. Reduce the amount of time that users spend finding jobs
  4. create a startup section that will attract as many leads as possible among specialists from all over the world

the messenger will help with the resume, so as not to go over several times, to apply your resume, you can send it right away in the messenger, but student restriction will be required, as there are different cases
