TaxSlayer Practice Lab

  • Only one Practice Lab account can be associated with an email address
  • The following slides will show how to create an account, sign in to your account, and start a tax return
  • Be sure to record your account “Username” and “Password” in a secure location

1. Open the Practice Lab web site:

After you login on the opening page with “TRAINPROWEB” you will see the sign in screen.

Click “Create Account”

Password requirements

  • Alphanumeric
  • Between15 and 25 characters
  • At least 1 Uppercase Alphabet, 1 Lowercase Alphabet, 1 Number and 1 Special Character (@$!%*?&)

  1. Make sure you record “Username” and “Password”
  2. Program Type is “AARP Tax-Aide”
  3. No entry for Site Identification number is needed

  2. Enter a “Security Question” and “Security Answer”
  3. Click “Create Account”

Select “Start new 2025 Tax Return” or Use “Client Search” to find an existing return

To start new 2025 Tax Return, enter Social Security Number (or ITIN number)

You must enter the SS or ITIN twice.

Click on “Start Return”

In Practice Lab the 4th and 5th numbers are assigned as zero by the software

The first screen requests filing status; Click on correct filing status and then Click on “Continue”

This will take you to the “Personal Information” screen
