Question 1
The students on Team 5 were asked to create their own games to teach to the students of Team 2. Charlese and Ayla decided to create a coin toss game using three coins. It was decided that in order to win the students needed to get two heads (H) and one tails (T). Mrs Moala asked them in they thought their game was fair.
Charlese said there were four equal outcomes: HHH, HHT, HTT and TTT which means that there is a 1 in 4 chance of winning.
Ayla said that the chance of getting a head or a tail is 1 in 2. So the chance of getting two heads and a tail is ½ by ½ by 1/2 . Which would be ½ x ½ x ½ = ⅛, so a 1 in 8 chance of winning.
