Khachapuri

  • Foreign cuisine has always been a fascinating window into different culture and I’m especially passionate about Georgian food.. A special place in my heart is taken by two dishes: khinkali and khachapuri. Khinkali are large dumplings filled with juicy spicy meat, or different kinds of cheese and the trick is to eat them without spilling the broth otherwise you might make a mess of it! They are warm, satisfying, and really hit the spot when you’re hungry.
  • Khachapuri, on the other hand, is a cheesy bread that literally tastes amazing . When I first tasted it, I was over the moon the taste was rich but not too heavy. I love how Georgian cuisine mixes simple ingredients in a way that creates unforgettable flavors. When I enjoy these dishes with my sibling, we always end up having long conversations . In the end, Georgian cuisine isn’t just food for me it’s something that brings comfort and a bit of Georgian spirit into my life.

The bread is known for its tall, domed shape and incredibly light, airy texture. Panettone typically contains candied citrus and raisins, which give it a delicate, fragrant sweetness. Its long rising process is what creates the signature fluffy structure.
  • Many families enjoy it for breakfast or dessert during the festive period. Panettone is also often paired with coffee, sweet wine, or hot chocolate. Over time, it has gained international recognition and is now sold in many countries. Some modern versions include chocolate, nuts, or cream fillings. Khachapuri

  • Khachapuri (Georgian: ხაჭაპური) is a traditional Georgian bread dish filled with cheese. The name khachapuri comes from the Georgian words “puri” (bread) and “khacho” (cheese), and is considered typical, most likely originating from the western Georgian region of Imereti. There are many types of khachapuri — almost every Georgian village has its own unique recipe.• In September 2011, the Georgian authorities registered a patent for khachapuri and several other national dishes.• According to an interactive map of culinary preferences, khachapuri is the most popular traditional dish in the world.• In January 2019, the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia officially recognized khachapuri as an element of Georgia’s intangible cultural heritage. It is believed that the history of khachapuri began in the mountains in the northwestern part of the country. Shepherds who worked all day had no opportunity to eat a proper meal. They were given flatbreads with cheese, which eventually gained national significance. Like khinkali, khachapuri became a symbol and a culinary hallmark of Georgia. “Try it once, and you’ll remember the taste for a lifetime” — Italians even put khachapuri alongside pizza. Interestingly, this dish has no single universal recipe. The dough for these flatbreads is something between yeast and unleavened dough, with a delicate and airy texture.

Turkish kebab

  • Kebab, a dish that has become synonymous with Turkish cuisine, is more than just food. It’s a symbol of culture and tradition, deeply rooted in the country’s history.
  • The kebab traces its origins back to the nomadic tribes of Central Asia. These tribesmen would skewer meat on their swords and cook it over an open fire. Over time, this cooking technique spread across various regions including Turkey.
  • A Turkish kebab is a dish of grilled or roasted meat, sometimes vegetables, that can be served on a skewer, or in a sandwich. The name "kebab" comes from the Turkish word for grilled meat. The primary ingredient in any kebab is meat — usually lamb or beef, but chicken and fish are also used. Vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and onions often accompany the meat on the skewer.
  • Common types of kebab are shish kebab - meat on skewers and döner kebab - meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie where layers of meat are cooked and then shaved off into slices to be served in a wrap, sandwich, or on a plate. My favorite one is döner kebab!
  • Turkish kebabs have made their mark globally. From Europe to Asia and America, you’ll find variations of this dish adapted to local tastes.
