PREVENTING AND DEALING WITH CYBERBULLYING

Protect your password:

Change it every now and then.

Don't use the same password for more things.

Use hard-to-find passwords.

Read privacy policy/settings.

Don't respond, report and block cyberbullIes.

Help your friends if they are bullied (you’re not alone on the internet).

If you're bullied tell someone you trust.

- We talked about cyberbullying.�- We watched a cartoon about phone addiction on the internet website safe.si.�- Students answered some questions about the topic.

CYBERBULLYING - QUESTIONNAIRE

We did a short survey among students of 8th grade. The results provide us valuable information about cyberbullying.

Mostly students say that cyberbullying is when a student bullies another student on the internet.

Almost half of students were cyberbullied, most of them were girls.

More than half of cyber bullied students didn't tell anybody about it.

Half of students think cyberbullying happens all the time.

Many students do not know what cyberbullying is.

CONCLUSION

From the survey we found out that cyberbullying is a very serious problem among students and that more awareness will be needed, especially for them to talk about it with their parents or another adult they trust.

CHILDREN PARLIAMENT: Two representatives from each class meet a few times a year and discuss different topics. This year's national theme is MENTAL HEALTH.

From 17th to 21st October 2022 our Children Parliament invited TOM TELEPHONE to our school.

TOM is a helpline phone since 1990. Beside other problems, teenagers can ask there for help and share topics of safe use of internet and mobile devices.

(TOM joined the Center for Safer Internet in 2012.)

Some action of that week:

  • We organized the TOM stand with propaganda material in the school lobby.
  • Students got to know about the TOM helpline at class lessons with their class teacher.
  • Students wrote questions for Tom helpline volunteers.
  • They created posters on TOM logo: Odgovor je pogovor. Talking is the answer.

The pros of a hyper-connected life are:

  • news are available non – stop,
  • we find information easily and all the time ,
  • we can count on internet as our second brain,
  • we can make life easier for us and for future generations,
  • we keep in touch with people from all over the world.

THE CONS OF HYPER-CONNECTED LIVING

The cons of a hyper-connected life are:

  • our concentration/focus is worse,
  • we are used to have, what we want, immediately,
  • we cannot retain the information for a long time,
  • we are sometimes satisfied with incomplete information,
  • we hang out with friends less,
  • we depend on electronic devices in an unhealthy way.
