What is a Coat of Arms?
A coat of arms is a symbolic graphic that represents a group of people such as a family or a nation.
In this activity, you will create a Coat of Arms that represents you, your culture & interests, in science and outside of school.

Part 1: Who are you as an individual?
Choose 2-3 ideas from your handout that most resonates with you. What are the values, hobbies, parts of your identity that seem most important?
Represent these different ideas with 2-3 images or drawings in the top left hand box of your template.

Use your handout to choose 2 things your team has in common and 2 that make you different.

On your template, create a slogan or motto that promotes one of the positive values we discussed in class. Include an image that is inspired by the slogan.�Click here to see the positive values list for each of Mr. G’s classes.
Part 4: Scientist of Interest
Select a scientist that interests you.
Use the list on the next slide, or choose someone else you know about.
Make sure the person has a job that involves either engineering or science research.
In your notebook, write at least 2-3 of their scientific contributions and at least one obstacle that they overcame.
On your template, draw 1-2 images that represent your scientist. You may make one of them an image of your scientist.

Your drawings should have color, be detailed, and neat.
You will be attaching your coat of arms to the front of your notebook once it is complete.
