I was born, Stephanie Shireen Sheikholeslami, at the University of Iowa Hospital (Go HAWKS!) just after 7 am. I was delivered by a Doctor Engledinger! My parents are Debbie and Zahed Sheikholeslami, who lived in Coralville, IA. I weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21 inches long, with a full head of brown hair. I was their first child and the third cousin out of eleven born to my mothers side of the family.
On this day in history, President Reagan of the United States made an important speech in China. This trip was important because it was only the second time a US president had been to China since the Communist Revolution there. This was the second day of his visit, and he spoke in the capital of Peking (now known as Beijing), on the topic of expanding diplomatic and economic relations. As a result of this meeting and meetings like it, China would open to trade and become a world super power with an important relationship with the US.
