Self-Evaluation Tool

Head Teachers have been very enthusiastic about the self evaluation tool and the data which is produced.

Through working with schools we have found how important it is to discuss the questions with staff and relate them to the overviews to give more accurate reflection. It is also helpful to agree what types of answers to write in the evidence section.

Some schools asked staff to complete the whole evaluation to get clear data on where to focus their improvement work. Others ask staff to be more focused about the areas to complete by selecting 4-6 key questions.

When you are sure all your staff have completed the self-evaluation you email Jenny Foxen, her email address is at the top of the self-evaluation form. You get back two different sets of data back, one is an excel spreadsheet with all the data which is organised into bar graphs and shows individual teacher responses with their evidence. You also get data which presents the mean and standard deviation to measure consistency of staff answers. These are RAG rated. We are currently developing a system to allow schools to get their data back automatically.

Once you have completed the focus work, you should select the key questions that relate to your focus and you can, once again, use the self-evaluation toolkit to measure for improvements. You should hopefully see greater consistency in staff answers as wells as improvements in how they rate themselves.
