Difference Between AP and CC Courses

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

  • College level courses taught by high school teachers
  • Content dictated by the College Board
  • Must take exam in May to earn credit
  • Credit only earned with required score for each university
  • Approximately $95 per exam

Concurrent Credit (CC) Courses

  • College course taught by high school teacher who is also adjunct faculty at the university
  • Content dictated by the university assigning credit (USI/Ivy Tech)
  • Must take university final exam at end of term (PLTW takes a National Assessment)
  • Credit given by university with grade assigned
  • Approximately $25 per credit hour ($75 for 3 credit/hr class)

Students qualifying for free/reduced cost program pay no cost for both options
