PVAAS & SSO

We are gathering info from LEAs and exploring the feasibility with SAS EVAAS
We are a local control state with 700+ LEAs with 700+ slightly different ways of doing things, staffing technology supports, the tools used, etc.
SSO may be a technical option for some, but not all- we are in the exploration stage of gathering info to see if we can do a pilot
There is no plan to require LEAs to integrate PVAAS into their SSO solution.

Comprehensive Planning

Using PVAAS to Inform Your Comprehensive Plan provides a structured approach for digging into PVAAS data at the grade, subject, and student group levels. This guide offers reflective questions to encourage the investigation of growth and predicted achievement data to support the design of the Comprehensive Plan.

We know that PVAAS growth data exists within a larger frame of data. As you explore your growth data in PVAAS, we’d like to highlight a resource that may be helpful to you as you consider your larger data landscape. The guide provides a frame for building and maintaining a culture rooted in using data to make decisions. As educational leaders, you are poised to support the use of data for critical decision-making across your system– at the LEA level, school level, and teacher level. Supporting the use of data requires attention to a data-driven culture. This guide provides practical questions and evidence to support the partnership between LEA/district and school leaders as you work to evaluate your programs together. We’ll be highlighting key actions related to PVAAS growth as represented in the guide.

Additionally, there's another resource I want to make sure to mention.

Again, if you're out on that PVAAS login page before you log in, you scroll down below that Log In button, there is another section called Using PVAAS by Role.

And if you click on the Teachers link right there on that PVAAS login page, it will take you out to a PDE PVAAS webpage. that's called Using PVAAS as a Teacher. And on there you'll see a number of resources specifically designed for teachers.

In the Engage in Self-Reflection section, the very first link is for a Self-Reflection Guide for PVAAS Teacher Reporting. That's helpful as that is a workbook for you.

It's like kind of an electronic workbook with fillable fields. It'll walk you through the process of interpreting the data, you know, looking for root cause and really setting an action plan that's designed around the growth trends that you see.

Is anyone already familiar with the PVAAS Teacher Self-Reflection Guides, which were originally developed in 2014? (pause for show of hands) Does anyone have an experience to share?

The 2023 newly revised guides now reflect Act 13 requirements, and specifically the LEA Selected Measure requirement of Act 13.

There are still two guides, with titles changed to reflect those who are considered by PDE to be “data available teachers”, in other words, those teachers who receive PVAAS teacher specific reports and those who are considered to be “non data available teachers”, i.e., those who do NOT receive PVAAS teacher specific reports.
