Preparing to exhibit

2 of 15

What are you going to show?

  • I don’t mind what you would like to show

  • You can show one piece or a series of pieces

  • You can show you sketches or sketchbook

  • You can show EVERYTHING

  • Be proud of what you are showing and be prepared that some people might ask you questions about your work.

Where do you want your work to be displayed?

  • Does it have any special requirements? Lights? Hanging from the ceiling? Outside? On a window? It is a sculpture?

  • Do you want there to be many pieces? If so, are they a series? Is there an order they should be in?

  • Is there a special relationship between the piece and a place?

How shall we lay the exhibition out?

  • Are we going to be in this room?

  • Where else could we use?

  • Is it better to have everything in one place? It may be crowded BUT, people will see everything if they come

OR

  • Could we spread the work out around the school? It would be interesting. Give each piece/artist their own space to work in BUT, some work may not be seen as as much (depending on location)

I was thinking…

  • We could make an art trail so that people can look around the school while seeing the work that you have done?

  • There are long hall ways and lots of space. It might be interesting to have people follow some directions or arrows and walk around the school.

Over the next two days

  • If you have a piece that is completed then you only need to give me the information for your exhibit label
  • If you are still working on something then please focus on completing that and then give me the exhibit label.
  • If you are not sure then please ask me and we can work it out together

  • If you have everything ready then you can start/continue working on something. If you are not sure then please come and talk to me
