Top 5 Tips for Residents - by a Senior Nurse
1. Say communications in person to the nurse, not in an Epic Chat if the nurse is around [learn names! ]
2. Place orders that are useful and executable, e.g. liquid Tylenol for 3 y/o, not tablet
3. Communicate the plan of care with nurses (parents are always asking)
4. Give printed discharge instructions and have form signed when providing final counseling to families
5. Avoid practices that duplicate work for nurses, e.g. some nurses may like to interview the patient together
