WAAAY back at the beginning of September I showed the older kiddos this REALLY great website called Dog Island! But those smarties figured out very quickly that it was a FAKE SITE! I was so proud of them! We took the opportunity to learn about lateral reading vs vertical reading and red flags that help us realize some sites are NOT FACTUAL!

We also talked about sharing information on social media platforms. We discussed things that give up positive feelings and negative feelings and why we should or should not share those things on social media.

We played a racing game related to impulse control on social media as well. Figuring out when we should pause and think before sharing information with others!

What are we doing in library class?

Shine!

I recently attended an event and in parting the presenter told us to “Go SHINE”. That really stuck with me! I decided that i wanted to share that with students…so i found a book about a sea star who didn’t think she shined. She discovers at the end that everyone shines in their own way and the most important part of shining is to just be happy!

So to my students and their parents…..go shine!
