Winning people to Christ

“And he who wins souls is wise”

(Proverbs 11:30)

Why winning people to Christ?

  • 1. Because Satan Seeks to Destroy Men.

“Satan seeks to blind the minds of men” (2 Cor. 4:4).

Man is in the image of God, satan wants

to get revenge by destroying men.

  • 2. Because Hell is Real.

God will judge men and the wages of

sin is death, end result is Lake of Fire.

  • 3. Because God Saved Us.

“He died for all, that those who are saved should not live for themselves(2 Corinthians 5: 15).

  • 4. Because the Time is Short.

If the Lord were to come today –

would you be able to have Him say:

well done good and faithful servant’.

Why Evangelizing Beyond Our Country

  1. God loves everybody. (John 3 : 16). “for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not parish but have everlasting life”.

  • Jesus died for everybody. (1 John 2 ; 2). “and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world”.

  • He wants everybody saved. (1 Timothy 2 : 4). “who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”.

  • Responsibility to reach everybody. (Mark 16 : 15).

Go into all the word and preach the Gospel to every creature”.

How to Lead People to Christ.

  • 1. The Holy Spirit Draws People.

We merely desire to be instruments used by God to complete

His work. People do not come to Christ because we choose,

but because God chooses (the Ethiopian eunuch).

  • 2. Let the Light of Christ Shine.

When we let the light of Christ shine through our lives, we

demonstrate the love of God. ‘What makes them different’?

People are looking for hope. The world only offers dead ends.

  • 3. Praying for People.

Bringing souls into the kingdom of God is a direct attack on

satan’s domain; however, satan (a lion seeking whom he may devour)

is powerless against the authority of Christ all authority has been given

to Me in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28 : 18).

Christ our Example

Jesus Comes to Zacchaeus’ House. (Luke 19: 1-10).

  • 1. Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.

  • 2. Zacchaeus was there, a wealthy chief tax collector.

  • 3. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he

was short he could not see over the crowd.

5

Christ our Example

  • 1. Jesus was looking for Zacchaeus.

Seek out the lost people, because they are looking for hope.

Many are no longer fishers of men, but keepers of the aquarium.

  • 2. Jesus cared for him.

Care enough to find out more about them, Jesus called him by name.

  • 3. Jesus fellowshipped with him.

Go to them, into homes & culture (not being influenced, but

influencing them). Jesus: friends of sinners (Matthew 9: 9-13).

  • 4. Jesus taught him how to live, and how to give.

Teach new believers how to live for Christ and how to give to Christ:

- Jesus taught Zacchaeus how to live honestly.

- Jesus taught him how to live generously (changed from a collector to a giver).

What Will Draw Others to Christ

  • Living not preaching.

People remember what you do and the way you act, not what you say.

  • Manifesting the fruit of the Spirit:

love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness,

faithfulness and self-control.

  • Loving others as they are

rather than conforming them to

what we think they should be.

  • Encouraging and making one feel welcomed.

  • Balance between family & Church responsibilities.

What Won’t Draw Others to Christ

  • Ego trip, trying to draw people to oneself, instead of to Christ.

  • Sunday morning Christians, that act holy on one day of the week.

  • Hypocrisy, preaching one thing but living another.

  • Expecting higher moral standard commitments than the people can do.

  • Being pushy, two faced, have visible

sins, interested in fleshy desires,

trying to please man instead of God. ……………..

Winning through Medical Service

  • Wherever people are,

disease is also there.

  • Wherever disease is,

doctors are there, and

  • Whenever any person needs the doctor,

is the right time to spread Christianity.

If the doctor is not prepared to start the patient on the road to God, then, in many instances, the chances are that no other Christian will get the opportunity to do so.

Winning through Medical Service

REMEMBER

  • Christians are made by being taught - 'teach all nations',

each one of us must teach others the Lord's commands.

Needless to say, not all are to go abroad, but all must be related to the fulfilling of this command.

  • Poor people have to CHOOSE

between: eating and going to the doctor.

  • The medical service has to be professional.

  • A percentage of the people come, not because of

medical problems, but because of social problems

and spiritual needs.

Keys of Success: Doctor – Patient Relationship

  • Be in no hurry in diagnoses

and prescribing medicine.

  • Be polite with the patient (show kindness & care).

  • Give plenty of smiles to the patients,

this is also charity.

  • Treat the relatives in a humble way (empathize).

  • Visit the patient, as doing this will get the reward of visiting the sick.

God’s Plan is Multiplication!

  • It is the same way He populated the world: One man and one woman, they had children and their children had children, etc., world population multiplied.

  • God’s plan is to multiply His people. This can be done when every one of God’s people commits to win one soul to Christ per year.

  • Our job is to multiply the number of Christians in the word.

Sometimes we are too busy doing other things in Church:

- “a complaint against the Hebrews in the daily distribution” (Act 6:1)

“but the word of God grew and multiplied(Act 12 : 24)

- The problem is that it’s much easier for people to procreate physically, than it is to procreate spiritually.

Winning People Not the End Task

  • Planting Churches, teaching people and then baptizing new believers are not the end task, even though they are ‘absolutely necessary’.

  • True evangelism goes beyond this, it combines the knowledge with obedience leading to transformed lives.

  • Transformation only occurs if the ideas are applied.

The ‘secret’ to transforming life's is:

- To Express God’s love, by showing love for people.

- Biblical discipleship & teaching people to obey

commandments.

What if People Refuse Salvation?

  • The ministry is that of Planting Seeds.

“So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he

who waters, but God who gives the increase”.

- Some seeds fall by the wayside.

- Some seeds fall upon the rocks.

- Some seeds fall among thorns.

- Others fell on good grounds.

  • Whether they get saved or not is out of our control “for without me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

  • Pray and love them as a person whom Christ died for.

Soul Winning Tips

  • Listen and understand people’s feelings.

  • Don’t speak negatively about other individual or groups. Talk about Christ.

  • Give people hope.

  • Don’t give the impression that the Christian life is a ‘bed of roses’.

Soul Winning Efforts are Never in Vain

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;

it shall not return to Me void

but it accomplish what I please,

and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”

(Isaiah 55 : 11)
