Importance of Academics Senior Year

  • Colleges care about your senior year too!
  • Acceptance is conditional until they receive the final transcript from your high school upon graduation.
  • Remember, college requirements are often higher than graduation requirements.
    • Make sure you are meeting the highest standards!

MSHSAA Requirements

  • Students must have passed 3.5 credits the semester before involvement in sport/activity

  • Students must be enrolled in 3.5 credits the semester of their involvement in sport/activity.

  • THIS MEANS YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE OPEN BLOCK A SEMESTER AND IF YOU DO YOU CAN’T FAIL ANY CLASSES. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND OPEN BLOCKS FOR ATHLETES!!

  • Here is a cheat sheet guide of requirements to make it easier:
    • Division I Requirements
  • If you are meeting NCAA Division 1 requirements you should be meeting the requirements for Division 2 and NAIA

  • Don’t forget to request your transcript be sent to NCAA/NAIA

ACT

  • To register for a test in the future: www.act.org
  • ACT Prep workshops—Times and locations to be advertised.
  • Fee Waivers if on free/reduced lunch—2 during junior and 2 during senior years
  • Kickapoo code: 263-289
  • Some schools require ACT scores be sent directly from ACT
  • For scholarships, some schools will not accept a score from a test taken after December of the senior year.
