What is Career and College Promise [CCP]?

Tuition Waived 

College courses are available for eligible North Carolina

high school students and North Carolina residents

Students can earn transferable college credits, attain career

credentials, or a combination of these before completing

high school�

Students can enroll in Career and Technical Education (CTE) 

Certificates and College Transfer Pathways (CTP)�

What is a Career and Technical Education [CTE] Certificate?

Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education Certificates provide tuition-free course credits that can be applied towards a certificate or workforce credential.

Courses align with the technical degrees at SPCC. Starting on page 22 of the CCP Guide.

Great option for a student looking for workforce credentials 

Completion of a CTE is a great addition to a resume 

What is a College Transfer Pathway [CTP]?

College Transfer Pathway

College Transfer Pathways provide tuition-free course credits that will transfer seamlessly to any college in the University of North Carolina System or participating private college or university.

Transferable credits under NC Articulation Agreement

Choose a pathway based on what fits best with a major you plan to pursue

Starting on page 15 of the CCP guide.

Pathways are comprised of 32-35 credits; halfway to an Associate Degree

Who is Eligible?

Career and Technical Education Certificate

• 9th/10th grade
• 2.8 unweighted GPA + high school recommendation + C in

Math I + 3 ,4, or 5 on Math I EOC & 8^th Grade ELA EOG

• 11th/12th grade
• 2.8 unweighted GPA

College Transfer Pathways

• 11th and 12th grade
• 2.8 unweighted GPA

What is the Role of the Career Coach?

Enrollment Process

Your Career Coach will help you complete the enrollment process and assist with the course registration process.

Advising

Your Career Coach is a great resource for career and academic planning. Meet with your Career Coach at any time to discuss semester planning, career assessments, etc.

​

Support

Your Career Coach is the point of contact to answer questions about South Piedmont.

They will provide you with all the resources that the college has to offer!

What is the Role of the High School Counselor?

High School Schedule​

Your high school counselor creates your high school schedule and coordinates South Piedmont courses with Career Coach.

​

High School GPA

If you have questions about course weights on high school GPA, please ask your high school counselor.

​

High School Support

If you need social, emotional, or academic support in high school, your high school counselor is your point of contact.

​

Family Educational and Rights Privacy Act

• FERPA is a federal law that protects that privacy of student education records. 
• The same FERPA laws apply to all students, even those under the age of 18. 
• Students are encouraged to complete a FERPA form.
• However, even with a completed FERPA form on file, there are still limitations as to

what can be discussed.

How Do You Get Started?

Step 1: Apply to South Piedmont

• After your application is processed, you will receive your SPCC login credentials.
• Due to FERPA, South Piedmont instructors and employees are required to communicate through this account. Be sure to check this daily!

Step 2: Complete the Initial Eligibility Form

• It is best practice to meet with your Career Coach for pre-advising, discussion of goals, pathway choice, etc. 
• Students cannot be registered without completing this step!

​

Step 3: Complete a CCP Course Add/Drop Form

• High school students cannot register themselves; a course add/drop form must be submitted and then approved by your Career Coach.
• Submitting this form does not automatically register you for or guarantee any courses.
• You will receive a confirmation via email (to your SPCC email) when you are registered for courses or not.
