History of the Poppy

Significance of the Poppy.
The significance of the poppy comes from the Napoleonic wars in the 19th century 110 years before it was adopted into Canada. It was adopted into Canada July 6, 1921.
Why we wear a poppy.
The idea for the poppy was created by Madame Anna Guerin. She was inspired by John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders field”. She passed her idea on to the Royal Canadian Legion in 1921.
