Mathematics is an optional subject in Level 3.
It is a subject that is required for a lot of future career pathways.
This course caters for students who need a strong mathematical background for tertiary study as well as for those who enjoyed studying Algebra and Calculus in L2MAT and would like to continue to study these area of Mathematics.
Students wanting to study Engineering at university are required to have studied Level 3 Calculus. It is strongly recommended that students wanting to study the Bachelor of Food Technology course through Massey University take this course.
Students entering this course must have sound algebraic skills and a keen interest in Mathematics.

This course caters for students who need a strong background in Statistics for further tertiary study as well as for those who would like to continue to study some Mathematics in Year 13.
Students entering this course must have good language skills as they will be required to do research and write statistical reports, communicating their findings to solutions in writing.
It is assessed through 2 internally assessed report writing standards and 2 externally assessed standards.
The use of appropriate technology (Laptop and Graphics Calculator) is expected.
