Parent Role during the Game

  • Yelling at officials or coaches at games…adults yelling at adults – Who is watching?

  • Kids need to see parents model proper behavior in the stands.

  • Kids need one instructional voice during competition.

Parent Role After the Game

  • #1 most negative memory for student-athletes: getting into the car and hearing analysis, comments etc.

  • Parent message needs to be, “I love watching you play.”

  • Parents need to model poise and confidence.

  • After the season is over, what is your child’s favorite memory and most negative memory? What is yours?
