Introduction

BEER

A Happy juice that doesn`t make your head hurt the next morning but scientists say it`s a fermented beverage made from basic ingredients like malt, hops, yeast and ofcourse water

Ingredients

MALT

Malt is basically the "secret sauce" of beer!

Imagine grains (like barley) going through beer boot camp:

  1. They get soaked in water to wake up. ("Rise and shine, little grains!")
  2. They sprout like tiny plant babies.
  3. They get roasted to develop sweet, toasty flavors— kind of like making toast but way more important for beer!

The result? Malt gives beer its color, sweetness, and body

—without it, beer would just be bitter, hoppy water!

Ingredients

HOPS

They add bitterness, aroma, flavours and keeps beer from tasting like sugar water.

Hops and cannabis are botanical cousins! Both come from the same biological family. They share terpenes, giving hops that citrusy, or piney aroma. No THC, so hops won’t get you high—just happily tipsy!

Ingredient

YEAST(brewer`s yeast)

It’s a microscopic organism that eats sugar provided by malt and produces alcohol. In the process it also burps CO2(Carbon (IV) oxide which is used in the carbonation process of beer.

The gas in the beer is what makes you belch/burp. Sausage fruit(Muratina) picks up good wild yeast when dried that ferments honey to make ratish

Ingredients

WATER

Beer is technically 90% water,if you drink beer you`re technically hydrating

Water is essential to beer, making up most of its volume and impacting every step of brewing. It extracts sugars from grains, shapes the beer's flavor through its mineral content, and influences hop and yeast activity.

HISTORY AND EVOLUTION OF BEER

Ancient Egypt & Mesopotamia: People were drinking beer before they invented the wheel. Priorities! Beer was basically a staple drink that was invented by mistake when grains left in water fermented naturally.

Middle Ages: Monks in monasteries discovered hops and used them to increase the shelf life and flavour. Beer was safer to drink than water in this period, so kids had beer too Industrial revolution: advances in new technology, mass production and science led to new discoveries such as yeast strains, fermenters leading to better quality beer.

Modern Era (Millenials this is where we are): Now we have craft beer because people got bored and decided beer needed personality through experimention of styles.

MASHING

LAUTER

BOILING

FERMENTATION

Milled Grains are mixed with water to extract the sugars needed using enzymes

lautering is just a fancy word for filtering the sweet liquid(wort) from the grains after mashing.

Hops are added to the wort at various times during the boil, depending on the desired bitterness, flavor, and aroma

Yeast eats the sugars in the wort and produces Alcohol and Carbon dioxide (the bubbles!)

PACKAGING

  • BOTTLES
  • They are fancy and classic, but requires an opener (or good teeth).
  • dark bottles are recommended because they block light from penetrating the beer and making it go “bad” or taste skunky
  • CANS
  • Light, unbreakable, and great for sneaking into places (not that I recommend it!)
  • Some cans have improved liners that prevent the beer from interacting with the metal.

KEGS

Keg packaging involves filling large, stainless steel containers with beer for draft service. These kegs are pressurized with CO2, pushing the beer through taps in bars and restaurants.

If you have one at home you are definitely fun!!
