WHAT IS

VIZUAL

EDGE?

Vizual Edge is a market leader in visual performance assessment and training using its web-based platform, the Edge Trainer.

  • Over the past 15 years, the Vizual Edge team has designed and implemented visual performance programs for:
    • Olympians
    • Professionals
    • Collegiate Teams
    • Individuals

  • The Edge Trainer was developed to train and enhance an individual’s core six visual skills, which has been proven to give athletes a competitive advantage through heightened overall vision.

WHEN ANALYZING ATHLETES,

LOOK BEYOND 20/20 VISION

To accurately create a comprehensive picture of what’s happening around us, we depend upon six core visual skills.

Each visual skill can impact different aspects of a player’s game. For optimal performance, players should aim to maximize their proficiency in each of the skills shown below.

ENHANCE YOUR

VISUAL SKILLS

HOW OUR WEB BASED SYSTEM

WORKS

  • Using the Edge Trainer, athletes will be evaluated on their Core 6 Visual Skills

  • When complete with the baseline evaluation an Edge Score is given resulting from an athlete’s six-core visual skills. These exercises are based on a combination of: Accuracy, Timing, and Difficulty

  • Based on an athlete’s Edge Score, Vizual Edge identifies the athlete’s visual strengths and weaknesses to create a customized training plan targeting these deficiencies.

Using a Computer, Laptop, or Tablet, and a pair of our Blue-Red 3D Glasses, athletes take a 15-20 minute evaluation on our web-based platform, the Edge Trainer

MLB

ANALYSIS

117 players took a Vizual Edge Evaluation and began the 2019 season on an MLB roster

  • Of the 117 players in the MLB vs. the 5,447 players that were in or are no longer in the Minor Leagues we see the most significant differences in Convergence, Recognition, and Tracking scores.

  • Digging into players that have an OBP of greater than .360 (top 50 in the MLB in 2019) has shown that these players have greater core visual skills.

The results provide evidence that superior visual skills are related to better hitting performance in several statistical categories. Since the body reacts only after the eyes send the proper information to the brain, enhanced vision is essential.

An athlete can’t hit or catch something he/she can’t see clearly. Since visual skills appear to play a significant role in hitting performance, coaches, trainers and administrators should consider assessing each player’s vision and using a valid training program to improve vision when indicated.
