I’m excited to be back for my 13th year at Elm! I am starting my 18th year overall at d181. I will be teaching 5th grade music and choir this year and I know we will have a wonderful time listening to and making music!

This is my 26th year teaching, my 22nd year in D181 and my second year at Elm11! I am thrilled to be back at Elm helping the third graders gain confidence and skills in performing, creating, and listening to music.

I am overjoyed to be here for my 1st year at Elm! I will be teaching grades K, 1, 2, and 5. I can’t wait to make music with students and see them grow into creative and musical members of our community.

  • For the first time all grades K-5 will have daily PE. All classes are 25 minutes.

  • Gym shoes are required for participation (no sandals or crocs). This will alter the learning experience for students if they do not have proper footwear.

  • Our curriculum covers a variety of social and physical skills. We will practice good sportsmanship, respect and cooperation, while gaining exposure to skills, such as throwing, kicking, catching, jump rope, striking, balance, rhythmic movements, fitness concepts, and more!

  • Our classroom expectations focus on being KIND. Kind to self, Kind to others, and Kind to our space and equipment.
  • 2 years ago we earned our 3rd BLUE RIBBON P.E. Award at Elm School for excellence in our content area.

Meet Mrs. Petersen

This is my 23rd Year of Teaching, and my 12th year at Elm. I look forward to instilling a love of reading in the library, and encouraging perseverance, creativity and critical thinking in our iLab!

Library & iLab

The library is truly the heart of our school- a welcoming place where every student can access resources and information at a level and format best suited to meet their needs.

All students visit the library on a weekly basis for book checkout and lessons. Our library is stocked with print and digital books as well as online research resources. You can visit our online catalog at http://bit.ly/elmmrc.

Through the D181 Information Literacy curriculum, I teach students how to access, evaluate, create and ethically share information on and off-line. I collaborate with classroom teachers to embed these ideas into research projects and lessons across all school subjects.

The library is also the home base of our iLab resources. All students will have opportunities to explore STEAM (Science, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) concepts during their weekly iLab class.
