One group was taught social studies content using traditional methods - lectures, readings, worksheets, quizzes, and tests.

The other group was taught the same content using real-world, project-based, collaborative and individual work with self-, peer-, and teacher assessments.

Which group do you think did better on assessments?

The group taught with traditional methods or the group taught through real-world, process-based, project-based methods?

Initially . . .

They both did equally well.

One year later, without notification, students took the same test.

The Results?

Students taught using traditional methods scored 25% on the test.

Students taught using project-based methods scored 75% on the test.

This is why we are implementing project-based learning at DKIES.

Student Showcase

Check the map for locations.
Talk with students about their projects; ask them questions and give them feedback.
Please circulate and visit as many stations as you can.
A bell will ring at 7:10 to wrap up and return to the cafeteria for refreshments, closing, and evaluations.
Students will remain in their area to clean up. They will meet you in the cafeteria when they are done.
