Fourth Grade Devices at Home
Dear fourth grade families,
Due to the potential of inclement weather, we are preparing students for remote learning. We will be sending home devices starting Thursday, November 6th. The laptop device that your child has been issued is an educational tool for extra support at home and to complete tasks during remote learning days. Your child’s school-issued device is still monitored by the district’s filtering and monitoring system. It is essential to remember that these devices are the property of Buncombe County Schools and should only be used by the student to whom they were issued. Devices should be charged at home each night and returned to school every day. Any damage is the responsibility of the student, so please handle these laptops with care!
On remote learning days, assignments will be posted by the teacher by 10 A.M. on Google Classroom. Students will have up to 5 days to complete assignments. Students will be counted present for the day/class period upon completion of assignments.
In the event you have a question or concern, please feel free to reach out to the Buncombe County Schools Help desk and a member of the Technology Department staff will get back to you. Technology Help Desk
Live Chat is available 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. If busy, email: helpdesk@bcsemail.org

Infinite Campus Information
As you may have heard, beginning with the 2025-26 school year the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is transitioning all school systems, including Buncombe County Schools, to a new student information system, NCSIS powered by Infinite Campus.
The new NCSIS provides additional features to help you monitor your student's educational progress, along with a mobile-friendly experience that makes it easier to see everything on the go. Campus Parent, the Infinite Campus web portal and mobile app, gives parents and guardians real-time access to grades, attendance, assignments, and schedules. The portal and app connect parent to teacher, teacher to student, and student to parent.
You can sign up for your parent portal using your student’s UID number (your student may know it as their “lunch number”) from this link on the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction website. Choose “Buncombe County Schools” from the drop down menu and follow the instructions to set up your portal. After you’ve created your account, it may take a few days for your student’s schedule to populate, as schools finalize classes in the week ahead.
We have also posted a resource page on the BCS website with videos and quick start guides to help you learn more about the features of Infinite Campus. Click here to view it now.
Please reach out to your student’s school with any questions.
