  • Set up Team Meeting
    • Introduce Coaches
    • Discuss player expectations
    • Discuss parent volunteers
    • Discuss tournaments
    • Handout/complete any necessary paperwork

8 of 37

Team Managers– Practice Schedules

  • Practice times in Crossbar are the source of truth

  • Supplemental practice ice available for all teams
    • Ice limited so best options before/after high school season (and times will early/late)
    • Coaches would determine needs for supplemental ice needs (more/less ice time based on team needs)

9 of 37

Team Managers– Game Scheduling

  • Home games have been entered into Crossbar. With multiple teams being scheduled, please double check as human error is likely.
    • Budgeted home games - Squirt 12-14 / PeeWee 14-16 / Bantam 16-18
    • Two association covered tournament. Teams can chose additional tournaments but families responsible for costs
    • Adding games - I will share available ice & prioritize if needed (FYI - appx $450/game for ice & refs)
    • Confirm home & away schedules with opposing teams - some websites better than others (ideally 2 weeks ahead of time - date, time & rink location)

10 of 37

Team Managers– Game Scheduling

  • Try not to cancel double-headers - most associations require reciprocal ice and canceling may result in losing future games

  • Expect conflicts - games will get cancelled, teams will have blowouts, etc. That is to be expected.

  • Reiterate good sportsmanship on & off the ice - does impact likelihood of future games

11 of 37

Team Manager– Game Officials

  • Notify League Scheduler (Adam Zunker) when home games are scheduled so he can add to the Game Official scheduling database
  • Check your schedule often to make sure you have requested officials and one has signed up to officiate the game. (officials show on Wednesday of game week).

Things to remember:

    • You must cancel or change officials at least 10 days prior to a game to avoid paying a fee
    • Requesting officials late means less chance of having them scheduled and higher fees
    • Ref shortage exists - more prevalent at older/faster ages (BA, BB & PWA)
    • No refs - check ref locker room / single ref game / coaches ref (usually not enough time to call someone)

12 of 37

Team Managers– Parent Volunteers

  • Home Game Parent Duties
    • Teams provide clock keeper, scorekeeper, and penalty box personnel at all home games.
    • Create schedule to rotate these responsibilities among all player parents (except coaches) for the season.
    • If parents need Clock and/or Scorekeeping training, “How To” documents are on the Team Manager Info page.
    • Working these jobs does not count towards volunteer hour requirements
    • Sunday DePere ice - ensure games stay on schedule

**It’s a good idea to include these parent assignments in the weekly email as a reminder

  • Skate Sharpener- each team will have one person that will be the skate sharpener. Let equipment manager know who this is so he/she can be trained. Volunteer hours awarded. reach out to Chris at equipment@dpyh.org

Team Managers–Game Reporting

  • “GameSheet” will be implemented for digital score sheets via ipad app
  • Post game Win/Loss results weekly to your team page
