Harrison Park Vision and MIssion

Vision:

At Harrison Park we believe that all staff members are responsible for ALL student’s educational experience. Together we do this through:

Update on School’s Progress

  • We usually have state test scores and growth to show. These are currently embargoed and will be available to share out with our community soon.
  • The fall benchmarking window for our district assessment will open Monday, September 19th. The goal of this is to gather baseline data on reading and math.
  • District assessments may be done three times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring).
  • State testing will begin in the Spring.

What is Title 1?

  • The United States Government’s largest education assistance program for schools.
  • Funds are used to provide programs for students who are struggling in reading and math.
  • On top of the instruction they receive in the classroom this is additional help/support in their reading and math skills.
  • Funding is provided under ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act).

Title 1 at Harrison Park

Title 1 at Harrison Park looks like:

  • Free schoolwide breakfast, lunch, and snack
  • Educational Assistant in all Kindergarten classrooms
  • Shared Reading Educational Assistant in grade one
  • Academic EAs in grade two
  • Two Reading Intervention Teachers
  • Therapeutic Intervention Coach (K-2 Grade)
  • Family and Community Involvement Funds
  • Curriculum, PD, PLC’s (to assist teachers practice)
  • Schoolwide Literacy PD
  • Title 1 Reading Program
  • Computers/Technology

Reading Intervention and Support

Our goal is to push support into classes as much as possible as we don’t want students missing core instruction.

Cheryl DeGroot and Michelle Irons, our Reading Intervention teachers, have identified time with each grade level 1st-5th daily. They will use a variety of strategies and materials to help move students forward.

Title Compacts will be available at our fall conferences in November. Please note they are in the following languages:

Assessments:

  • OSAS

  • MAP Fluency - phonics/phonemic awareness/fluency

Notification of Assessments:

  • OSAS - Annually sent home or distributed at conferences (if available)
  • Other - Conferences, Progress Reports, Report Cards
  • Progress Monitoring

  • Participate in decisions affecting your child
  • Review school’s Title 1-A plan and make suggestions

Parent Concerns and Problem Solving

If you have a concern with your child’s academic performance please follow the following process:

  • Arrange a meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss and devise a plan of action.
  • If the problem is not resolved at this level, please reach out to your child’s counselor, the Assistant Principal, or the Principal.
