Attendance & Academics

  • During the season, if student has more than 1 F they are ineligible for a week.
  • Eligibility will be run on Thursdays for a warning, with official eligibility completed on Monday @ 1:30pm.
  • If they had 2 Fs at the end of 1st semester, they have to regain eligibility by 4th of March or they are ineligible for the season.

From the AD’s Office:

  • This is educationally based athletics. Winning is the goal, but not the purpose.
  • 24 Hour Rule with Coaches - please do not contact coaches within 24 hours of a contest.
  • Eligibility - we run eligibility each week. You can be failing one class and be eligible. Tiger Time Counts
  • If you have any questions or concerns with your students 504 plan and its relation to athletics, please contact Mr. Hughes directly before try-outs.
  • Code of Conduct - in place for all student-athletes in regards to substance use/abuse (alcohol, drugs, nicotine, vaping)
  • Travel and trips are all included in our athletics/student handbook and code of conduct.

From the AD Office…

  • Academic integrity and any type of violation to our student discipline code will be addressed and consequences will result.
  • Travel on trips is like being on school grounds. Every action matters. Stay above the line.
  • Fees - need to be paid before the end of the school year. Athletic fee for participation is a district fee, but there may also be team fees.
  • NCAA - if you feel you are wanting to participate in athletics in college, come see Mr. Hughes ASAP to ensure we are on track. Never too early to start this process.

  • Registration is done online now. Registration for spring season is OPEN NOW. The deadline is February 25th.
  • Non-attending players must fill out the non-attending form and either deliver this in person to Tracy Archer, the Lakewood Athletic Secretary, or email it to her at tracy.archer@jeffco.k12.co.us
  • Up-to-Date physical that goes through the end of the season
  • If you are on the free/reduced lunch program, the school athletic fee ($185) is waived.

ATHLETIC TRAINER

  • Evaluate & Treat Athletic Injuries
  • Parents will be contacted for any injury needing referral
  • Concussions - Parents will always be contacted
    • Per CHSAA - All concussions have to be cleared by Dr.
    • Return to sport protocol with trainer
  • Report all injuries when doctor has been consulted
    • Even if injury was not suffered playing lacrosse
    • Consistent treatment

  • Injuries & Treatment - when to see Sydney
    • Swelling - Bruising - Can’t bear full weight
    • Pain lasting 2-3 days
    • Unwillingness to practice / play
    • DON’T IGNORE - will take longer to heal
  • Minimize Injuries & Soreness
    • You will be sore - stretching & warm ups
    • Hydrate & Fuel (Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, Dinner)
    • Rest - 8 to 9 hours - Restore brain and muscles
