15.4.3 Guidelines on hazardous waste disposal
To ensure the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials generated on campus, Pollution Control Office created a management plan about hazardous waste. This plan covers wastes from laboratories, workshops, offices, and maintenance areas, such as chemicals, batteries, electronic waste, and other materials that could harm people or the environment. The plan provides clear guidelines on proper identification, segregation, storage, and disposal, following the requirements of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and other environmental regulations. It also assigns specific responsibilities to the Pollution Control Officer, faculty, staff, and students, making sure that everyone contributes to safe and sustainable waste practices.
