Company- Coca Cola

Campaign- ‘Sexy Gardener’ (2013)

Link to Advert

  • The codes used in the advert are the ‘Diet Coke’ logo. This is to alert viewers that the advert will be about Diet Coke
  • Also, when the ladies had to drink their drink quickly when the man took off his top. This shows that fizzy drinks calms down your excitement.
  • The conventions used in the advert are group of people drinking and people laughing and a person opening a can of a drink.
  • From my prior learning, the codes I feel are expected when creating a fizzy drink advertisement are the name of the product (colours used would usually be bold and bright) and a close up shot of the product.
  • From my prior learning, the conventions I feel are expected when creating a fizzy drink advertisement are a group of people talking/ and someone usually drinking the product.

5 a) One benefit of using group discussions for generating ideas is you will be able to hear different ideas and opinions. This is helpful as everyone idea will be taken into account and you will be able to identify strengths and weaknesses.

b) Rules that would have to be put in place:

  • No one talking over each other (this is so everyone opinion can be heard)
  • Everyone must listen to each other (this shows respect and so feedback can be given)

c) Ideas that might come up for the campaign are:

  • What kind of theme should be used (in terms of colour)
  • How to relate ‘Tango’ to young adults
  • What type information should be included that will attract the target audience

6 a) The benefits of gathering information from a survey are:

  • You are capable of collecting data from a large number of respondents. This is beneficial as this allows for different answers to be considered and it can help when coming to a conclusion about the idea.
  • Can be developed easily. This is beneficial because it would not cause any problems when creating the survey, also it would be easy to use for the participants.
  • Numerous questions can be asked about a idea. This is beneficial as this allows for flexibility for answers. Also this allows for different views, feedbacks and opinions to be read.

b) An open-ended I would ask the target audience is ‘What do you think a Tango advert should consist of’? I would ask this because this is coming from the target audience and the campaign is to attract them and their answers is what will be used to help plan the campaign.

c) A closed question I would ask the target audience is ‘Would you say Tango is one of the best soft drinks’? I would ask this because it would help when comparing Tango to other soft drinks.

d) Ideas/feedback for the campaign that might come up from conducting surveys:

  • If Target audience could be expanded for example 16-20
  • Changing the objective

7 a) One benefit of gathering information is you will be able to obtain detailed and broader range of information. Another benefit is it saves time and money.

b) I would ask them how can we make Tango the best soft drink, how can the campaign attract the target audience. I would ask the group this because using the target audience feedback will help when creating the campaign.

c) One idea that might come up from the focus group is maybe not to focus on the original flavour but focus on all for example, include Tango cherry and tango apple.

8a) One benefit of looking at existing practitioners work is it will help you come up with different ideas and give you a guide of what to include/do.

b) I would specifically look at what the practitioner included in their work and the style they used. I would do this so I can use this when creating the campaign.

c) Ideas/feedback that might come up from the practitioner’s work is you will be able to adapt ideas.
