  • Freeze food

  • Buy less food

  • Eat the oldest food first

  • Save your leftovers and eat them

  • Some food that doesn’t look good can still be used
    • Use fruit like bananas for smoothies
    • Make croutons out of old bread

  • Don’t throw out you the food you don’t eat lunch, save it for a snack or for your lunch tomorrow

  • Giving your leftovers or extras to friends instead of throwing them out

What if we can’t reduce food waste?

The last resort for food waste should be the trash (landfill)!

Food waste takes a long time to degrade in landfills and produces methane (GHG gas) that can lead to global warming

Recovering and recycling food waste are good options when you can’t reduce

Easiest and most preferred action you can take!

If we can’t do this…

Then we want to try donate edible food waste to food banks or donate to animals

Like we learned earlier, anaerobic digestion and composting are sustainable and good ways to recover food waste
